Smart devices based on the Internet of Things (IoT) are the backbone of every intelligent environment. When sensors and actuators are linked to one another and the Internet, life becomes simpler. The Government of India's Smart City and "Swachh Bharath Abhiyan" initiatives aimed to promote a safe and sanitary environment. The unorganised manner of dumping solid waste in landfills is becoming more common due to population growth, industrialization, and urbanisation. Due to the large amount of solid waste produced, smart waste management is needed in all countries. In this chapter, a methodology for tracking dustbins in smart cities, households, and organisations is suggested. The aim of the project was to enhance waste management within the organisation. The garbage level in the dustbins is checked frequently. Whenever the dustbins reach maximum level, alert will be sent to the corresponding authorities with the bin details to dispose the waste. Furthermore, the gas sensors in the dustbins detect the foul odour and give a warning when it exceeds a certain threshold level, even if the garbage level does not exceed the full capacity of the dustbin. The places where dustbins must be emptied on a regular basis are also listed. The system's widespread implementation would encourage a safe and sanitary climate.
