Abstract

The present experiment was focused to study the effect of different concentrations of NaCl on shoot multiplication in Brassica juncea. In vitro culture was established on MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/l BAP. NaCl at various concentrations was added in the medium to evaluate the effect on shoot growth and multiplication. Among the NaCl concentrations tested, 0.2% was found to be optimum for best shoot multiplication for B. juncea and the highest number of shoots obtained was 6.30.19. As the NaCl concentration increased, the morphological abnormalities were also observed. The NaCl at 2.5% level was found to be lethal dose for shoot growth in Brassica
