Abstract

Good health and well-being is a function of the food, which in turn depends on the environment. A link is established between several nutritional issues and public health and policy. Several targeted issues have been discussed. The issues have been selected based on the number of people involved and the probable lack of choices. Study and discussion which ensues, should be going on among professionals from agricultural sciences and engineering, the food sciences, management science, the social sciences, public policy and public health. A strategic plan and course of action is necessary to improve the current state of affairs regarding the issues presented. The axiom ‘Think globally, act locally’ applies.
